Every October, Córdoba becomes a living museum thanks to FLORA, the international flower festival.
The event brings together some of the world’s best floral artists to transform the city’s patios into ephemeral floral installations, blending tradition and contemporary art in a unique visual spectacle.
History and origins of the FLORA Festival

FLORA was born in 2017 from a collaboration between Córdoba City Council and the Zizai Hotels group.
Its aim was to create a dialogue between the tradition of Córdoba’s patios and contemporary floral art.
Since its first edition, the festival has gained international fame, attracting thousands of visitors and establishing itself as one of Spain’s most important autumn cultural events.
What is FLORA all about?
Over ten days, five world-renowned floral artists are challenged to reinterpret the patios of Córdoba through spectacular floral installations.
Each work is based on a specific theme, and the artists compete for the prestigious award known as the “Oscar of Flowers”, which comes with a substantial cash prize.
The creations can also be visited free of charge, offering a unique chance to enjoy ephemeral art in historic settings.
Where and when is it held?

The FLORA festival takes place every year in late October in the city of Córdoba, Andalusia.
In its 2025 edition, the confirmed dates were 14 to 25 October.
The installations are spread across institutional patios provided by the City Council and other sponsors, turning the city into an art trail where heritage and creativity go hand in hand.
The artists and their creations
Each edition of FLORA features five international florists selected for their innovation and talent.
These artists work with natural flowers and plants to create striking installations, playing with shapes, colours and textures in harmony with the architecture of Córdoba’s patios.
Their works are not only visually stunning but also convey messages about nature, culture and contemporary art.
Fun facts about the festival
Since its first edition, FLORA has broken attendance records.
In 2017, around 350,000 people visited the festival in just ten days. The theme changes every year, challenging the artists to explore new forms of floral expression.
In 2025 the chosen theme was “The Game”, promising installations full of creativity and interaction with the public.

More than an art event, FLORA has helped strengthen Córdoba’s cultural and tourism identity.
It has established the city as a benchmark for floral art, attracting visitors from all over the world and boosting the local economy. It has also opened up new avenues of artistic exploration, combining the tradition of Córdoba’s patios with innovation in floral design.
